Robert offers years of experience in dealing with employment issues, particularly in large and complex public sector organisations.
In 2007 Robert was appointed by the Attorney General to the Regional Panel to receive instructions from the Treasury Solicitor and Government Departments, primarily in respect of employment work
His recent cases have involved:-
• Unfair and wrongful dismissal and redundancy
• TUPE
• Discrimination - including securing a 6 figure award for a claimant in a disability discrimination claim.
• Trade Union related action short of dismissal arising out of the Fire Brigade Union strikes
• Recovering insolvent employer debts to employees from the Secretary of State
• Procedural actions arising from the Employment Tribunal rules of procedure
• Teachers’ terms and conditions
• Sexual misconduct allegations against teachers – Application of ‘List 99’
Prior to the bar, Robert was a corporate member of the chartered institute of personnel and development and worked as head of personnel at Rampton Special Hospital, amongst other large organisations. He was involved in managing major employment issues including individual dismissals, TUPE transfers, industrial action and discrimination.
Robert also practices in general common law areas, with particular interest in matters arising out of the employment relationship such as restrictive covenants, negligent references and civil enforcement of compromise agreements. He also deals with sale of goods, landlord and tenant, contract, commercial disputes and some personal injury.
