Admitted as a solicitor in 1977, Peter became the managing partner of Kingsley Napley solicitors in London. As a solicitor he dealt with all aspects of litigation and specialised in business crime having the conduct of the defence in many high profile cases brought by the SFO, Customs and the Inland Revenue. He represented large publicly quoted companies as well as prominent private individuals such as Lord Kagan of Elland, Pamela Bordes, and Lester Piggott.
Peter was Standing Counsel to the Department of Trade and Industry between 2002 and 2005.

R v U (2009) – Leading defence counsel. Defendant charged with false accounting. Case listed 3 weeks.
R v B (2009)
– Led junior to R Smith QC.
R v Turner (2007/8)
– Leading defence junior. Defence counsel representing a man charged with money laundering. Trial listed 6 weeks.
R-v-Rodgers (2007)
The Kieron Fallon race fixing trial. Together with Peter Kelson QC, he represented the alleged ringleader. A lengthy fraud trial at
the Central Criminal Court.
R-v-Horrobin (2006 and 2007) Trial and retrial of historic sexual abuse allegations. Successful Abuse of Process applications and eventual acquittals.
R-v- Simmerson (2005) Successful murder prosecution. Victim shot and then concealed in an oil drum with lid welded on.
R-v- Maxwell (1995) Represented the Treasurer of the Maxwell empire.
Indictment stayed for abuse of process.
R-v-Plasser (1993) 3 month trial concerning alleged corruption of British Rail engineers.
