Richard is highly regarded on the NE Circuit as one of the top junior counsel within chambers. He is often led by Queens Counsel in major trials. His flexibility and willingness to take on all cases recently resulted in Richard appearing at the Youth Court, prosecuting a murder without a leader and sitting as a Recorder all in the same week.

R v Ahmad (2008) – Defence counsel. Defendant charged with conspiracy to supply drugs. Case listed 3 weeks.
R v Coyle & others (2007) – Leading defence junior. Represented man charged with major drugs conspiracy. 6 week trial.
R v Campbell (2006/7) – Defence counsel acting for man charged with importing firearms and supplying class a drugs to front line troops in Iraq.
R v Taylor & others (2004) – Led junior counsel in the largest number of defendants to be jointly indicted for murder (9).
R v Smith & Atkinson (2002/3) – Led junior counsel in Operation Giro – prosecution of four armed robbers committing or planning armed raids on 18 post offices.
R v Silkstone & Osbourne (2003) – Led junior counsel in the Sheffield milkman murder.
R v Leaver (2002) - Leading junior counsel in a large scale drugs supplying case.
R v Lickley & others (1998) - Joint prosecutor of the largest number of defendants (29) in a single prosecution in 1998.
